Spring Turkeys

Just the other day I opened my window in my classroom and it smelled so wonderful outside. I sent a text to Todd and told him it had to be getting close to turkey season, cause I could feel and smell it outside.  Well...youth turkey season was this last weekend and what a weekend it was. We hunted Friday night, all day Saturday and Sunday morning. The girls ended up getting turkeys within about an hour of each other on Sunday morning.

Saturday evening we decided that we wanted to stay in the cabin and watch movies because the girls were tired and it looked like it was going to rain. Thank goodness we did. Earlier that day we had discussed hunting over at a friend's place by Castana, which is less than 10 miles from Mapleton and was in the path of the tornado that hit and devastated the town. Needless to say, we had MANY family and friends who knew we were over in the area (Oto is 20 miles north of Mapleton) and who called or texted through out the night to find out if we were ok.  It was fine at the cabin. Unfortunately for those in Mapleton , Early, and the surrounding areas of Sac County, I can not say the same.
